Ann Latinovich is a multidisciplinary fine artist and writer whose work explores identity, emotional intelligence, and the deep structures of the creative process. Working across painting, photography, sculpture, and film, she brings precision, vision, and psychological depth to every medium she touches. Her work is known for its clarity, atmosphere, and the sense of presence it creates in a room.
Ann’s upcoming book, Mirror Woman: Eros Rising, expands her exploration of perception, self-erasure, and artistic transformation. It reflects the core themes that have shaped her creative life and positions her as a leading voice at the intersection of art, psychology, and symbolism.
Artistic Philosophy
Ann approaches creativity as intentional construction. Ideas are shaped through attention, discipline, and structure. Her studio practice is designed for focus and momentum, allowing intuition to refine itself into form.
She works with a deep respect for craftsmanship and believes that art gains power through clarity and emotional intelligence.
Connection to Nature
Nature is a foundational influence in Ann’s practice. She grows flowers from seed, bulb, and tuber as part of her creative process, engaging directly with cycles of time, effort, and renewal.
Much of her botanical photography and floral imagery is tied to themes explored in Mirror Woman: Eros Rising — growth, hidden labor, emergence, and the reclamation of self.
Visual Language
Ann’s visual work blends structure with emotion.
She uses line, color, and composition to create images that feel grounded, intentional, and psychologically resonant. Her pieces often explore themes of transformation, the unseen self, and the tension between restraint and expression.
Her imagery is widely recognized in the fields of fine art, contemporary botanical photography, and symbolic portraiture.
Recognition, Exhibitions, and Legacy
Ann’s work has been recognized by institutions including The Art Institute of Chicago and The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Her installations and exhibitions have appeared across Italy and the United States, including prominent displays at Chicago’s historic Water Tower and the London House Hotel.
Her portraiture includes commissions of two United States Presidents, and she has completed large-scale frescoes in Tuscany as well as live painting performances on Michigan Avenue.
These achievements underscore her position as a significant American contemporary artist.
Education and Teaching
Ann holds a BFA from Tyler School of Art and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has served as a Visiting Artist at programs nationwide and recently led a fresco workshop in Siena, Italy, where she taught the connection between place, technique, and creative integrity.
Fern & Nest
Through her brand Fern & Nest, Ann integrates art, intentional living, and personal development. Her workshops focus on clarity, emotional presence, and structured creative practice — themes that echo throughout Mirror Woman: Eros Rising.
Current Work: Mirror Woman and Eros Rising
Ann’s recent body of work investigates the mirror woman archetype, the psychology of self-erasure, and the creative force that emerges when a woman begins to inhabit her life more fully. These themes inform both her visual art and her writing.
Her Substack, Eros Rising, is a studio of ongoing inquiry where she shares essays, images, frameworks, and insights leading up to the release of Mirror Woman: Eros Rising.
Ann’s current creative phase marks a shift toward work that is expansive, psychologically rich, and deeply aligned with her artistic evolution.
